People who have intersex conditions have anatomy that is not considered typically male or female. Most people with intersex conditions come to medical attention because doctors or parents notice something unusual about their bodies. This study examined the narratives of a sample of heterosexual men who had an occasional sexual encounter with a transgender woman to better understand how erotic desire was constructed. Open-ended qualitative interviews were conducted with 16 heterosexual men who reported at least one sexual encounter with a transgender woman in the previous 12 months.
